As proposed by Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, the expansion work of bus terminus at Vadavalli Junction is on at full swing. Over these years, Vadavalli bus stand has become an important bus terminus in the city as noted educational institutions like Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Bharathiar University, Anna University, close to 25-30 schools and city-fame Mardhudhamalai temple are located in this route.
People of this area have remarked this move by Corporation as 'a huge sigh of relief' for them as the present crooked bus terminus is more prone to accidents and is unsafe for the passengers to wait for the bus.
Speaking on this, Corporation Commissioner today stated that 'The Vadavalli to Edayarpalayam route is an important junction. Due to illegal encroachments the bus terminus has been narrowed down, in the recent years. This not only creates congestion but also proves to be very much accident prone. In this regard, today, 8 more shops and unused toilets belonging to the Corporation at the bus terminus area have been demolished as it hampered the expansion process. Post expansion of this bus terminus, passengers would have ample space to wait for the bus and exit & entrance of the buses would be done carried out in ease'.

A bus stand with ample space with proper parking facilities and safety of passengers has been the long-pending plea of these residents of Vadavalli. On 6th January, 2017 Corporation Commissioner along with officials inspected the area and derived feasibility plans to expand the congested bus terminus at Vadavalli. And, during the meet it was decided to remove the encroachments that were hindering the expansion process.
On 20th January, Assistant Corporation Commissioner of West Zone Ramaiah and Assistant Town Planning Officer Ravichandran removed the encroachments made by shop owners and complexes at the bus terminus.
