Step-father arrested under POCSO Act in Coimbatore over continuous sexual assault of minor girl over 6-year period

The accused had married a woman who had been separated from her first husband and was living with her and the daughter in Coimbatore. The complaint alleged that he had sexually harassed his step-daughter for the past six years and had intimidated her from revealing the repeated assault.


Coimbatore: A step-father has been arrested under the POCSO Act in Coimbatore for allegedly sexually harassing his minor step-daughter over a period of six years.

The man was married to a woman from Coimbatore who had married for the second time and they were living together with her minor daughter. A few days ago, the couple seemed to have had a difference of opinion and the two separated.

The 17-year-old daughter reportedly told her mother that her step-father had been sexually harassing her for the past six years and had threatened her from speaking out. Following this, the girl's mother lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur All-Women police station against her second husband.

Based on the complaint, the police arrested the step-father in Coimbatore under the POCSO Act and produced him in court and, sent him to jail.
