Political Clash in Dharapuram: BJP, Hindu Makkal Katchi Members Arrested

In connection with a fight of BJP workers on the roadside in Dharapuram, police have arrested three people, including a BJP college student and a Hindu Makkal Katchi leader.


Tirupur: For the past two years, there has been a dispute between BJP's Tirupur South district president Mangalam Ravi and BJP's state office-bearer Kongu Ramesh at the Dharapuram bus stand in Tirupur district.

Mangalam Ravi, president of Tirupur South district, and Kongu Ramesh were seen hugging and rolling on the road, causing a ruckus in the area. The visuals went viral on social media in Dharapuram.



Ramesh Ram, a Bharatiya Janata Party college student, and Ramraj alias Rajendran were detained in connection with the offence and lodged in Coimbatore jail. Gunaseelan was arrested on behalf of the Hindu Makkal Katchi and held in Tirupur jail.

Police seized weapons, logs and iron rods used in the incident. The incident has created a sensation in the Dharapuram area.
