'Contributions by Indians to US IT industry is immense' says, Dr.Craig from US Embassy at Face to Face session in GRD College.
GRD School of Commerce and International Business has been organizing FACE To FACE an event which acts as a platform for the students to interact with eminent personalities of various genres.
Today, in one such Face to Face program, Dr,Craig Dicker, Public Officer(Acting)/ Cultural Affairs Officer at U.S.Embassy New Delhi was the guest. Dr. Craig joined foreign services in 1992 where he served in public affair sections at the US embassies in South Africa, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Hungary,and Turkey.
Dr.Craig Dicker while addressing the students said that, 'This is my first visit to Coimbatore. I have been here in India for the past 18 months and I adore this Nation for it's diversity'. Dr. Craig further eulogized that India is most diverse country on the planet he has ever seen. And, that he is stunned to witness people from various religions and beliefs all live in one nation and diversity of India is the key to it's success. 'America too is diverse but not as much as India' Dr. Craig said.

While moving onto other aspects of today's face to face discussion, Dr. Craig emphasized about entrepreneurship and start up culture. 'Entrepreneurship is the next major thing that is coming up and they are working with TiE which has existence across globe for mentoring potential start ups. Funding alone is not enough for any start up but adept mentoring is the key factor for starts ups to bloom'. he said.

Dr. Craig also clarified queries of students on higher education in the United Sates. He shared many students think to pursue education in an American University is a very expensive deal. Than looking at the price tags of the University, students should focus on selecting some noted Universities as they can procure scholarships right at the beginning of their admission. Visa's to the US is seen as an ordeal by the students. If the student has all documents like admission documents,scholarship details the chances of getting Visas are definitely high. Affirming this, in the year 2015, 75,000 Visas have been offered to the US' said Dr. Craig.

At the interaction session, a student asked Dr. Craig in which field are Indians contributing the most in US? 'It's the IT Sector', said Dr. Craig, who also apprised that Indians have contributed a lot for the boom for the IT industry and especially that too after the Y2K issue.
Answering to another query, Dr. Craig said, 'Other than 'IT', medical field, entertainment industry offer a lot of opportunities to the students'.
Dr. Craig also proposed that 'India and US should probably partner in joint production of nuclear power plants to jointly naval exercises and maintain a bilateral relationship beyond trade, security and commerce. He also shared his view on the recent shooting incidents in the US.

Eric Lund, Cultural Affairs Officer US Consultant General from Chennai and Dr.K.K.Ramachandran, Director & Vice Principal of Dr. GRD College of Science were also part of the session.
Not just the students but the Management had also lot to take back and implement from the real-time session.
