Stamp to honour the world record of ISRO on launching 104 satellites through a single PSLV C-37 rocket released at Wings 2017, annual day celebrations of The Western Ghats International School

The Western Ghats International School celebrated its annual day. Hemalatha Sashi Kumar Correspondent of The Western Ghats International School presided over the function. Padma Shri. Dr. Y.S. Rajan from Bangalore was the Chief Guest of the function he was former Chief Mentor for ISRO. Colonel Shailender Arya of Indian Army was the Guest of Honour. Professor Jacqueline Hayden and Professor Sanobia Palkhiwala of Macquarie University, Australia were the special guests.

Rithanya S. of Grade IX gave the welcome address. The annual report of the school was presented by the X students. The Chief Guest Dr. Y. S. Rajan presented special awards., The Home Library Award, The Young Author Award and The Green Warrior Award were presented to the students. He also distributed the prizes for The Young Champion and The Young Scientist competitions. S. Aadish who is studying grade VI and Hrishikesh Trilochan studying in grade IIX were awarded the best sports persons award of the year 2016-17.

The Guest of honour Col. Shailender Arya distributed awards, to the winners of the International Olympiad Exam, Star Child and Master Brain of the school. Prizes were also distributed to the students who attained 100% attendance and meritorious students for the Academic contests. He also presented books he co-authored with Dr. Abdul Kalam to the school library.



“Pride of India” award was presented to commend the exemplary service of Dr. Y. S. Rajan in the field of space technology and Mr. Shailendra Arya for his achievements in the field of defence.

A graduation ceremony of the Montessori children was also hosted.

Stamps authorized by the Postal Department were also released. Professor Jacqueline Hayden released a special stamp to honour the world record of ISRO on launching 104 satellites through a single PSLV C-37 rocket. This school released a special stamp on ISRO and PSLV rocket. Dr. Y. S. Rajan on behalf received the stamps on behalf of ISRO.

Cultural programme of the students was held on various themes like religion, cultural and tradition, five elements among others. Victory anthem on ISRO’s achievement exclusively created and choreographed by the school students was also performed. Roshini Benazeer K. a student studying of Grade IX delivered vote of thanks.
