A group of people belonging to the Kuravar Community from the city today presented a bouquet to Revenue Officer Christuraj who has officially been transferred. These people who belong to the Kurava tribes live on a platform in R.S. Puram in Coimbatore who create handicrafts using bamboo sticks.
This group of 20 families have been residing on the platforms of RS Puram for the past 40 years.

In the past, when Archana Patnaik was the Coimbatore District Collector, these people of Kuravar community filed their petitioned to provide them with a housing plot. Reacting to their plea, District Collector Archana Patnaik and Revenue Officer Christuraj went in person to investigate their state. Post their inspection, the District Administration allotted them 28 housing plots at Idikarai in Coimbatore. Presently, the construction work is on-going at these plots.
Then, Archana Patnaik was transferred and TN Hariharan took over as the District Collector. Now, that District Revenue Officer Chirsturaj has also been officially transferred to a new location, the people of Kuravar community came in person to the District Collectorate and greeted him with flowers and handicrafts made of bamboo and bid farewell to the Officer. They thanked him for his support and even requested him to continue work in Coimbatore.
Moved by their thoughtful and humane gesture, public and Officials were struck for words to appreciate these people.
