Traffic diversion announced for upcoming Koniamman Car Festival on 1st March.


City-fame, Koniamman car festival will be celebrated on 01.03.2017. Hence, the City Traffic Police have announced traffic changes in the city on the festival day from 12.00 noon to 08.00 pm. 

Changes in traffic will be done as follows:

Vehicles coming from Avinashi road flyover through the Goods-shed road will be diverted through Big Bazaar street and Vincent road and will reach Ukkadam from thereon.

Vehicles coming from Pollachi should take the Valankulam Bypass to reach Sungam and proceed from thereon to their respective destinations.

Vehicles coming from Brookebond road, Mettupplayam road, Sukrawarpet and Poomarket should use the old flyover to reach good shed road and should proceed from there to Ukkadam to reach their respective destinations.

Vehicles from Pollachi road going towards Trichy and Gandhipuram should take the Ukkadam flyover to reach the classic towers and the railway station to reach their respective destinations.

Vehicles coming from Thadagam road which travel  to Palakkad should go to Ponniahrajapuram and proceed from there to Chokkampudhur, Sivalaya Theater junction and should reach Ukkadam through the bypass road.

The vehicles which are using the Perur road should take a turn at Shivalaya theater junction and reach Chokkampudhur, Poanniahrajapuram and should reach Thadagam road and reach Gandhipark and should proceed from thereon to respective destinations.

Lorries are prohibited inside the city from 08.00 am to 08.00 pm.

The shop owners along the procession path should park their vehicles other than the procession route. No vehicle parking is allowed in Raja Street, Oppanakkara Street, R.G. Street, Vyshyal Street and K.G. Street.

The Coimbatore traffic police commissioner has requested the people to cooperate to this temporary changes in traffic and help in smooth conduct of the car festival.
