26 lakh empty liquor bottle bought back in Coimbatore - TASMAC

In order to prevent the dumping of empty liquor bottles on roadsides in Coimbatore district, from April 1, TASMAC has announced that 26 lakh empty bottles have been bought back in a week.


Coimbatore: Tasmac has received more than 26 lakh bottles of liquor in Coimbatore.

In order to prevent the dumping of empty liquor bottles on roadsides in Coimbatore district from April 1, every liquor bottle sold at TASMAC retail outlets will be sold with an additional sticker of Rs 10.

The customers then return the empty liquor bottles with stickers pasted on them to the liquor shops. It was announced by the district administration that the Rs 10 received would be refunded to the customers and since April 1, stickers were pasted and liquor was being sold in excess of Rs 10.

At the same time, empty liquor bottles with stickers pasted on them were returned to the liquor shops by the customers and rs 10 was returned. As many as 26,96,071 bottles of liquor have been withdrawn during the one-week period from April 1 to April 6, according to the Tasmark administration in Coimbatore district.

In Coimbatore North zone, 17,56,997 liquor bottles were sold in 166 liquor outlets, while 12,91,506 bottles were withdrawn and 4,65,491 liquor bottles were not returned.

Similarly, out of 19,24,708 bottles of liquor sold in 139 outlets in south zone, 14,04,565 empty liquor bottles have been withdrawn and 5,20,143 liquor bottles have not returned.
