Celebrate National survey day with a Photo exhibition in Coimbatore!

On the occasion of National Land Survey Day, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi kumar Pati inaugurated a photo exhibition set up at the collectorate premises. Land survey instruments, pentagram instruments, and archaic computing scale tools are also on display.



Coimbatore : Owing to National Survey Day The district administration on Monday put up a display of the district survey from 1876 to the current.



A photo exhibition was conducted in Coimbatore on the occasion of National Land Survey Day District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated the survey stall at the District Administration.



On April 10, 1802 William Lambton, commonly recognised as the father of the Trignometrical Survey of India, began surveying on St. Thomas Mount in Chennai.

Every year on April 10, National Land Survey Day is celebrated. As a result, the District Survey Department today opened a photo exhibition at the Collectorate premises in Coimbatore. District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati cut the ribbon.

An archaic atlas, 1876 settlement data, and maps of numerous locations, including Anaikatti and Ettimadai, were presented. The competitive district atlases of 1916 and 2022 were shown to demonstrate the significant differences throughout the century.

Theodolite, land surveying equipment, Pantographs for sketching maps and parallel surveying instruments were on show. The presentation includes historical land survey instruments, a pentagram tool that can show drawings in multiple proportions, computer scale tools that estimate area, and barrel-rooted tools used to precisely draw parallel lines.

It was visited by the district collector. Officials from the government were present, including Leela Alex, the district revenue officer. The displayed stall was visited by members of the general public who had come for the grievance day as well as by numerous other visitors and officials.
