Banderu Dattetraya, Minister of Labour and Employment visited Coimbatore to attend a meeting with the members of Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) organisation. Industry representatives from Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts participated in this meeting and presented a petition with a list of pressing requests to this Minister.
When speaking to the press after the meeting Minister Datetraya said, “The resolution for increasing the maternity leave from 12 months to 26 months for all government and private sector women employees has been passed in Rajya Sabha, soon it will be tabled in the Parliament and declared as a law'.
He also stated that the law for reducing 44 labours into 4 laws will soon be introduced in the parliament as it could lead to better compliance.” he said. Several industrial safety and welfare laws pertaining to wages, social security, industrial safety and welfare, and industrial relations, will be dealt in the forthcoming parliament sessions.
'And, new employment will be created in the textiles sector through Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana, which aims towards providing employment to the educated youth who are not having a job. Provident fund of 12% will be deposited to the employees' accounts to motivate youth join under textiles sector against the current PF 8.33%. This will develop the textile industry and help in creating new employment', Minister Datetraya said
