Startling sight of Leopard roaming in Kotagiri residential area sparks fear among residents

Residents of Periyar Nagar in Kotagiri, Nilgiris district, have asked the forest department to catch wild animals that frequent the residential area.

The Nilgiris: Leopards and bears have frequently been seen in the Periyar Nagar region along the Kotagiri to Aravenu road.

Meanwhile, surveillance video showing a leopard prowling the area in the early hours of Wednesday has surfaced, terrifying the locals. Because wild animals like bears and leopards frequently roam the area, the villagers are frightened that they are unable to leave their homes.

A few days earlier, the same area was home to two black panthers, two leopards, and three bears.

Currently, a CCTV camera has video of the leopard moving around. The locals have asked the forest department to put the wild creatures that frequently saunter through their neighborhood in cages.
