What are the features of the upcoming Coimbatore Semmozhi Park?

The park proposed to come on Jail Ground, Gandhipuram, will host 16 types of gardens such as Kurinji Vanam, Semmozhi Vanam, Maravanam and Pollen Park, Aromatic Park, Herbal Park etc., imbibing historical significance.


Coimbatore: As many as 16 types of parks have been planned to be set up in the Modern Semmozhi Park announced in Coimbatore in the Tamil Nadu budget.

On the occasion of the World Semmozhi Tamil Conference, Tamilnadu CM M K Stalin announced the setting up of a Semmozhi Park on 165 acres of land in Gandhipuram central prison premises.



Accordingly, the Semmozhi park will be set up in two phases spread over an area of 165 acres i.e. 45 acres in the first phase and 120 acres in the second phase.

Accordingly, in order to create awareness among the students and the general public about conservation of nature in the first phase of the Semmozhi poonga. It is proposed to set up world class standards at a cost of Rs.172.21 crores for the benefit of education, research and environmental management and for better recreation of the public and children.

Kurinji Vanam, Semmozhi Vanam and Maravanam forests will be included in this Semmozhi poonga to witness the historical significance. It is proposed to set up 16 types of parks such as pollen park, aroma park, herbal park etc. with artistic techniques so that the public can know the type of parks and its characteristics.

It is also proposed to set up special halls, indoor hall, outdoor hall, multi-storied parking lot, sales outlets, rest room, open air hall and physical training facilities in the park premises.

The Kew Park in United Kingdom is the only phytoplankton park in the world to be the bank of plant biology and its associated research center. Since such a park has not yet been set up in our tropical country of India, it has been reported that such a specialpark will be set up here.
