'Operation of Uday express', special train between CBE-BLR delayed due to procurement of coaches', says DRM, Salem Division

Uday Express (Utkrisht Double-Decker Air-conditioned Yatri) is a special morning train scheduled between Coimbatore and Bangalore with double-decker coaches. The train is scheduled to operate six days a week except Monday. Train Number 22665 will start from Coimbatore at 5:45 hrs (morning) and will reach Bangalore by noon 12:40 pm and Train No: 22666 will start from Bangalore to Coimbatore at 2:15 pm and reach Coimbatore by 9:15 pm. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu informed about this train service while he was here in the city to attend a conference hosted by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Coimbatore Chapter, back in September, 2016.

The train was supposedly to commence it's services by Diwali but then it was informed that Uday express would be flagged off from January 2017. But, till now the services has not commenced. Clarifying this delay of operation of Uday express, Salem Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Hari Shankar Verma said, 'There is no change in schedule of Uday express. As informed earlier, train number 22666 will start from Coimbatore to Bangalore at 5:45 am and Train No: 22665 will start from Bangalore to Coimbatore at 2:15 pm. All preliminary work has been already accomplished. But there is an unexpected delay in procuring the said coaches for Uday express, which is delaying the commencement. Shortly, the coaches will be arranged and Uday would come to operation. The date of commencement will be intimated shortly.' DRM said.
