National and Internationally acclaimed delegates to address at ‘Cognitive Approaches to Language and Literature' by Bharathiar University.


An International Conference on ‘Cognitive Approaches to Language and Literature’ is being organized on March 3rd and 4th, 2017 by the Department of English and Foreign Languages of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

This conference is organized to give the participants orientation in current studies in this field which connect Literature, Cognition and Neurosciences. It also attempts to open avenues for the study of human mental capacities at work in literary texts, and view this as one of the most direct and illuminating methodologies available to cognitive science.

Internationally acclaimed academicians and scholars in the field of Language and Literature will grace the conference. Dr. Richard Zumkhawala–Cook from Shippensburg University, United States of America, Dr. Edwin Zappe, Musisches School of Arts,Austria and Dr. Kandiah Shriganeshan from University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, Dr. S. P. Dhanavel, Professor of English, Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, Chennai, Dr. Lingaraj Gandhi, Professor of English, University of Mysore, and Dr. Richard Hay, Former Deputy Director of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala, Member of the Parliament, Government of India, are the main speakers of the conference. 

In addition there will be around three hundred foreign and Indian delegates, participants and paper presenters in the thrust areas of Cognitive Approaches to Language Learning and Teaching, Interfaces between Life and Literature, Perspectives on Affect-Reason Dialectic Interface, Neural Bases for Cognitive Functions Traceable in Literature, Reading and Memory, Emotional Intelligence and Moral Cognition, Cognitive Approach and Specific Instructional Designs, Cognitive Theory and Learning Activities, Conceptual Problems Involved in Learning a New Language, Cognitive Poetics, Cognitive Rhetoric, Cognitive Approach to Literary Criticism, Cognitive Approach to Culture and neurotic narratives.
