It has been reported that Maheshkumar (35) and Muhammad Haneefa (78) died yesterday at the Coimbatore General Hospital (GH) due to Swine flu. Both the patients were reported to be suffering from prolonged fever and were shifted to GH from private hospitals.
Close to 29 patients are being treated at the Coimbatore government hospital for swine flu and 30 patients are undergoing treatment at various private hospitals in the city, reports say.
Reports indicate that from December 2016 till date, close to 16 people have died due to symptoms related to Swine flu however health department officials from Coimbatore have concretely denied the reports.
When speaking to the press, Deputy Director of Health Services Banumathi said, “There are no deaths die to swine flu in Coimbatore. People who passed away due to different causes in government hospitals have been reported as the ones who died due to dengue and swine flu. Close to, 68 people were getting treated for swine flu at various hospitals in the city out of which 50 patients have been discharged. Health department has full stock of medicines to treat the diseases like dengue and swine flu. Action will be taken on those who spread rumors about swine flu death.” she said.
