GARC 2023 kicks off in Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore

GARC 2023 hosts over 600 anesthesiologists from across the country including more than 50 members from Malaysia, Singapore, Zimbabwe, Australia and other countries.


The official inauguration of the GARC 2023 began by lighting lamps on Thursday at the Ganga Auditorium, Coimbatore.



The inauguration was accompanied by a unanimous GARC 2023 pledge taken by around 600 anesthesiologists from across the country including more than 50 members from overseas.



Anesthesiologists from Malaysia, Singapore, Zimbabwe and Australia took part in the event.



Day one of the conference was the Leadership Summit for which the key address on the topic "The Power of One" was presented by Lt Gen A. Arun, YSM, SM, VSM, GOC, Dakshin Bharat Area.



The interactive session emphasised the concept of trust and dependability on professionals in specification to anesthesiologists as serving a pivotal role in surgery. From the time it gets fixed to recovery, their role is much more significant. He stated, "Anesthesiologists are doctors".

The focus was given to the qualities of a leader that includes taking responsibilities, and risks, looking beyond the ordinary and taking additional work for the sake of one's team. All of these qualities are to be demonstrated rather than being lectured as words. The other traits include resilience, perseverance, respect and sharing.

Significantly he stressed the interrelationship between Hope, Inspiration and experience.

The event also witnessed the presentation of the Distinguished Mentor Awards and the Special Recognition Awards. This was followed by the talk on Overcoming challenges and moving forward: Singapore Experience by Dr Sophie Chew, President, of the Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists where insights on the development of the study of Anastasia in Singapore were presented. Subsequently, a talk on 'My way to the Top' was presented by Dr. Jannicke Melin Olsen, Norway, Past President, WFSA.

Later the session concluded with a panel discussion on "Clinician-Industry Synergy”. Technical challenges and solutions for the same were discussed through the dynamic participation of various experts in the field.
