'Due to road maintenance work between Ooty to Mettupalayam (MTP), all vehicles starting from Ooty to MTP will have to take Kotagiri hill route to reach MTP. And, all vehicles starting from MTP to Ooty will have to use Coonoor route to reach Ooty. This change in schedule has been implemented from 20.02.2017 to 24.02.2017' said Nilgris District Collector, Sankar.
About 10 crores of funds has been allotted for repairing and re-structuring of roads between MTP and Ooty as at most parts the roads are bumpy and uneven. As the summer season, is about to start in Ooty, government has decided to lay the roads well ahead of the busy season to facilitate smooth transit of tourist vehicles.
