According to one of the residents Sivakumar, a farmer in the area

“The Dharapuram municipality landfill has suffered recurrent fires and it happens twice a year. The fire not only burns for two days in a row but also blankets the area with black smoke for three days even after it is extinguished”.

“Due to this cows and chickens die and vegetable crops are completely burnt. There is a problem in the ovulation of the goats and the cows. So the garbage dump in the Sungam area should be shifted to another area”, he said” he said.
