Proving the statistics that 1 out of 8 couples suffer from infertility issues, globally fertility-related issues are increasing at an alarming rate. 'Though the modern medical technology provides as much as solution to the couples who suffer from infertility related issues, still there are issues which are 'unidentifiable' which pose a tough challenge to the doctors and the patients, as well' says Dr.V.Latha , Fertility Consultant at Nova IVI Fertility Centre, Coimbatore.

In a press meet that was hosted today by the Hospital to elaborate on the concept of 'Unexplained Infertility', Dr. V. Latha briefed on 'Unexplained Infertility'.
'The term 'Unexplained Infertility' means many fertility-related issues all pooled in together. In over 90% of the cases doctors can ascertain the male and female factors that hinders their fertility but in some cases both male and female factors known as mixed fertility.
At times, when the preliminary examination for infertility in patients seems to be normal, the diagnosis for 'unexplained infertility' is made. In Coimbatore, 15% of cases fall under the category of 'unexplained infertility'. Though with the advancement in technology, nowadays we are able to ascertain some of the 'Unexplained Infertility' factors in men and women, but still they are certain factors which are 'hidden'.
While we reviewed such cases with 'Unexplained Infertility' in detail, we found that those patients are more susceptible to issues like abnormal egg size or sperm, which is a very crucial factor in reproduction. In such cases where there is a structural anomaly, standard infertility detecting tests go 'futile'.
IVF procedure is undeniably a boon to such couples as it helps in achieving pregnancy spontaneously. According to statistics, the success rate of IVF has been 'impressive'. In women, under age of 35 nearly 60-65% of transfers resulted in live births. While that percentage does not decrease with age it is still reasonably high for women between age of 38 and 40, with about 30% transfers resulting in live birth.
Lifestyle modification and counselling are two important solutions for couples who suffer from infertility. A bad lifestyle could attribute to 30% for infertility issues. Undue stress, obesity, insomnia, inactive life style are the predominant factors that leads us to the path of infertility. During the initial days, when couples consult doctors for infertility issues, the females will co-operate well for all examinations but males were reluctant and adamant. But today, the scenario has changed. as husbands too volunteer to take tests.
With regard to the age limit for undergoing IVF procedure, the combined age of the couple should be less than 100. We at Nova IVI fertility centre adhere to all guidelines proposed by ICMR for treating infertile couples and still we have achieved great success rates through quality practices' affirmed Dr.V.Latha , Fertility Consultant at Nova IVI Fertility Centre.
