Elderly man seriously injured in fire at apartment in city's R S Puram area

The Fire Department rescued the man who was injured in the fire at an apartment in R S Puram's East Sambandham Road and admitted him to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. The police are investigating the cause of the fire.



Coimbatore: A fire broke out in a private apartment in R S Puram's East Sambandham Road in Coimbatore.



Many families live in the neighbourhood which has many apartments.



At around 7.30 pm on Thursday evening, residents in the area were shocked to see black smoke being emitted out of a floor in one apartment in the area. Shocked by this, the residents immediately informed the Fire Department.

Many residents in the apartment ran out of the apartment complex screaming in fear.



The fire brigade personnel who reached the spot used water cannons to douse the fire.



It is reported that the elderly man, who was seriously injured in the fire, was rescued safely by the Fire Department personnel and imediately rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital in an ambulance.



The fire brigade and the R S Puram police are investigating the cause of the fire.
