Adani was unable to answer a single question asked in the Hinderberg report - CPI(M) G. Ramakrishnan

CPI(M) politburo member G Ramakrishnan has questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have not yet opened their mouths against the defrauding Adani group which swindled several thousand crores of rupees through shell companies.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest near Panagal Maaligai in Saidapet against the recent budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament.

Led by CPI(M) politburo member G Ramakrishnan, a large number of party workers participated in the protest and raised slogans condemning the BJP government at the Centre.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Ramakrishnan said that the Union Budget for 2023-2024 will not help in growth either. A budget that does not eliminate poverty is a budget that protects corporate interests like Adani and Ambani. There are no provisions in the budget to protect the poor and the middle class.

Soon after the BJP came to power in 2014, they dissolved the Annual Planning Commission. This year's budget has slashed funding for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) by up to 33 per cent, which is a bane for the rural poor and agricultural labourers.

In the budget announced by the central government, they have reduced funds for key sectors such as fertiliser subsidy, education and health for farmers. If GST is levied on small and micro enterprises at par with corporates, how can small and marginal industries, which account for 60 per cent of the industrial growth and production, function?

Adani has exposed that the BJP government is a concessional government to corporates. Adani could not answer a single question to the 88 questions raised in a report published by the US research firm Hinderberg.

Why didn't PM Modi, Amit Shah and the Enforcement Directorate open their mouths against Adani for allegedly defrauding letterpad companies? Corporates should be taxed with wealth tax and succession tax.“
