Bike thieves caught red-handed while stealing bike near Sungam, turned over to police

In a shocking incident, two bike thieves, who were trying to steal a two-wheeler in Customs area, were caught red-handed by the owner himself with the help of his neighbours and handed over to the Race Course police.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, two bike thieves were caught red-handed by the owner of a two-wheeler near Chungam even as they tried to whisk off the bike.

Mohammad Ali is a resident of Sungam area. He runs a department store on the ground floor of his house. Last night, he parked his two-wheeler near the department store

Meanwhile, in the middle of the night, the sound of breaking the chain in which the bike was secured was heard by him. When he came out of the house, he was shocked to find that two persons were breaking the chain attached to the vehicle with a screwdriver.

He immediately caught the burglars red-handed with the help of his neighbours.

Following this, the Racecourse police were informed and the two were handed over to the police who reached the spot.

The arrested persons have been identified as Muthusamy of Erode and Mayakannan of Dharapuram.

Muthusamy has already been booked in four cases by the Erode police station for his involvement in various criminal incidents, including bike theft.

Following this, the two were arrested and remanded in custody.
