Abhijit Bose Limca Book of Records holder has made Coimbatore his home

As a child he grew up dreaming of doing something for the country. This prompted Abhijit Bose to join the Indian Air Force. Having served there for over two decades, 49 year old Abhijit decided to call it quits this year under the voluntary retirement scheme.

Abhijit has put India in the Limca Book of Records in the year 2013 when he was part of a team of 12 air warriors from Paratroopers Training School of Indian Air Force, Agra, UP who completed the highest bicycling expedition from Marsimik La (18,634 ft) in Ladakh to India Gate, New Delhi in 26 days from September 3-29, 2011. The group covered 1,400 km including passage through seven Himalayan passes. The group was led by Wg Cdr Jai Kishan, the team comprised Flt Lt Uttam Chauhan (deputy leader), WO Abhijit Bose, JWO Vinod Kumar, Sgt Anoop Singh, Sgt AV Raghavan, SGt Samota, Apt PR Das, LAC M Kohil, LAC Rajasekhar, LAC MS Reddy and LAC V Markendeyulu. This expedition was organized with IT Cycles the 'Go Green Ride' that promotes bicycling as a means to reduce pollution. His face lights up with joy when he shows us the official certificate of record.

Married to a doctor who practices in a private hospital in Coimbatore, Abhijit has now made Coimbatore home. Speaking on his future plans and his views on Yoga, Abhijit said, “I want continue to do something for my nation. I think if the people of our country are disciplined, India can become a better nation. Yoga is one of the ways to make people discipline. Currently, I am a full time yoga practitioner and trainer. If more people practice yoga, individuals will experience peace, there will be peace in their respective families and above all, there will be peace in the society and nation.” Abhijit says.

An adventure sport lover, Abhijit is also a certified skydiving instructor and a parasailing instructor. Post his fall while attempting a dive, he opted yoga to get better physically and emotionally. Amazed by the benefits that he could take advantage of from yoga, he wants everyone to be able to benefit from the science of yoga. Thus he is full time yoga teacher who teaches yoga and stretch exercises along with one of his friends in Coimbatore.

Being used to the life in defence, he found it a little hard to give up his routine. However, the thought of doing something for the nation continues to keep him going. A devotee of Baba Ramdev, Abhijit has been practising yoga and pranayam as a child. Today, he teaches basic and advance yoga, stretch exercises for people of all age groups for a very affordable price in Coimbatore.
