Angered by losing money in a card game - 7 arrested for abducting and threatening friends

Seven persons have been arrested for allegedly abducting and threatening their friends by making a video of them losing money at a gambling center near Palladam.


Tirupur: In a shocking incident, a group of friends were kidnapped and stripped naked near Palladam in Tirupur district and threatened with money.

Prabhakar (30), a native of Arulpuram near Palladam, works as a mechanic in a baniyan company there. He used to gamble at home with his friends Prakash (38) and Manoj (26).

In this case, Prabhakar's friend Masanam (30), a resident of Usilampatti, also played with money in gambling.



Maasanam, who was enraged by the loss of a large amount of money in the game of cards, he was accompanied by his friends Raja (25), Duraipandi (22) and Maruthupandi (22) from Thoothukudi district, Mahesh (42) of Thiruvallur, Manikandan (31) of Anna Nagar in Chennai and Bharathkumar (25) of Palani in Dindigul district. Prabhakar and his friends attacked Prakash and Manoj and abducted them in a car to Masanam's house.

Later, they beat up the trio, tortured them and stripped them naked and shot a video. They demanded Rs 5 lakh and threatened to release the video if they refused to pay them.

Prakash, who escaped from the spot, lodged a complaint with the Palladam police station and registered a case. Seven persons, including Masanam, were arrested and the car used in the smuggling was also seized.

All the seven arrested were later produced before a magistrate and sent to jail.
