Inebriated man attacks lorry driver and breaks glass panes in Coimbatore, arrested

Breaking the glass pane of a truck that was overtaking him on the road near Ettimadai in Coimbatore. Raja, an inebriated man who attacked the truck driver, was caught by the public and handed over to the KG Chavadi police.


Coimbatore: Raja (30), a resident of K.G. Chavadi near Ettimadai in Coimbatore district. The lorry driver had gone to Tirumalaiyampalayam from Ettimadai on his two-wheeler in an inebriated state after consuming alcohol last evening.

In this case, when they were heading towards Ettimadai again, the lorry carrying a load of soap passed by and going towards Kerala, it seems, overtook Raja's two-wheeler.

Enraged by this, Raja chased the truck behind and caught it near Ettimadai. He then picked up a stone lying on the road, broke the front windshield of the truck and allegedly attacked the truck driver Prabhakaran.

Following this, the locals caught hold of Raja, who was under the influence of alcohol, and rescued the lorry driver from him. Following this, the K G Chavadi police station was informed.

The KG Chavadi police, who reached the spot, arrested raja, who attacked him under the influence of alcohol, produced him in court and sent him to jail.

The injured lorry driver Prabhakaran has been admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital and is undergoing treatment.
