Coimbatore: Coimbatore With an additional 1,100 tonnes of garbage being dumped every day during the three days of Pongal festival in the city, the sanitation workers have cleared the extra garbage on a war footing.

Around 1,000 to 1,200 tonnes of garbage is being collected daily in all the 100 wards of Coimbatore Corporation.

Moreover, it is customary to collect more garbage than usual only during festivals like Deepavali, New Year and Pongal.
