Goondas Act slapped on two persons for selling high-grade drugs and ganja in Coimbatore

The Coimbatore District Collector has issued orders to register a case under the Goondas Act against two persons who were arrested for indulging in the sale of high-end drugs and ganja and indulging in activities harmful to public health in Coimbatore district.



CoimbatoreE: Kishore Ahmed (33), a native of Theni district, who was selling methamphetamine, a high-grade drug in the Kinathukadavu police station area of Coimbatore district was arrested by the police and sent to jail a day ago.

Similarly, Suresh Kumar (33), a native of Madathur in Chinna Thadagam, who was involved in the sale of ganja in Annur area, was arrested by the police and sent to jail.

The Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan had made a recommendation to the District Collector of Coimbatore, G S Sameeran that action should be initiated under the Goondas Act against Kishore Ahmed and Suresh Kumar for their alleged involvement in high-grade drug peddling which was detrimental to youth and society as a whole.

Accordingly, on the recommendation of the Superintendent of Police, the Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran ordered action under the Goondas Act against both men who were arrested for peddling drugs.

Based on the Collector's order, a case was registered against Kishore Ahmed (33) and Suresh Kumar (33), an accused in the ganja case, under the Goondas Act and both were lodged in jail.

The Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police has warned that action will be taken under the Goondas Act if anyone disturbs public peace or acts in a manner detrimental to public health. In the current year, action has been taken against a total of 37 persons, including 9 persons for drug dealing (Ganja, Methamphetamine) under the Goondas Act.

The police urged the public to contact 94981-81212 and WhatsApp number 7708-100100 to inform the police of any unlawful activity that they may suspect in their neighbourhood.
