Seven persons including North Indians held for smuggling ganja near Palladam, 2.5 kg ganja seized

Police arrested seven persons, including three youth hailing from the Northern states, who were involved in ganja smuggling. They were detained during vehicle check near Murugan Mill and Dakshinapalayam near Palladam and a total of 2.5 kg of ganja chocolates were seized from their possession.



Tirupur: The Tamil Nadu government is taking various measures to curb the sale of ganja across the state. The police are also in the process of arresting those involved in smuggling and selling ganja in towns and cities.

A police team headed by Palladam police inspector Manikandan was patrolling the Murugan Mill area near Palladam, when they saw three North Indian youth, who were carrying a bag, and they tried to escape on seeing the police.



When the police rounded them up and searched the bag, they found that it contained ganja and ganja chocolates. Following this, the police detained them at the police station and interrogated them. They were identified as Kamlesh Kumar, Ashok Raj and an unidentified 17-year-old boy from Bihar.

It was also revealed that they had taken a separate house in Kuppandampalayam area of Tirupur and were selling ganja and ganja chocolates.



Similarly, during a vehicle check in Palladam South Palayam area, it was found that Kishore Gandhi and Abhishek Suraj, residents of Nochipalayam, Sanjay of Lakshmi Nagar and Ravichandran of Andipalayam in Tirupur were found to be selling ganja.



Following this, the police produced all the seven arrested in court and remanded them to custody.
