Heavy rains lash various parts of the district since midnight, motorists affected due to thick fog conditions

Coimbatore district and the city have been receiving incessant rains since midnight and motorists found it hard as low visibility and fog conditions prevailed.



Coimbatore: Heavy rains continued to lash several parts of Coimbatore district since midnight due to which normal life was affected in many parts of the district including the city areas.

City areas and suburbs like Gandhipuram, Ukkadam, Sundarapuram, R.S. Puram, Sulur and Perur have been receiving widespread rains since midnight.



Meanwhile, motorists had to switch on headlights due to low visibility as fog conditions prevailed in the city. The city experienced heavy fog since early morning

The student community is affected due to rainy conditions as semester exams are going on. They were seen commuting to the exam centres soaked in the rain.

As per the forecast for the next two days, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Salem, Kallakurichi, The Nilgiris and Erode districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours.
