Police arrest youth for exchanging fake currency at TASMAC shop, seize Rs.28,500 counterfeit currency from him

Fake currency worth about Rs 28,500 were seized from a tippler, who had tried to procure liquor using Rs.500 fake currency note at a TASMAC shop on Puttuvikki Road. The TASMAC staff handed caught him and handed over the tippler to Police.


Coimbatore: A TASMAC shop is functioning at Puttuvikki Road in Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore district. Yesterday, a 20 year old youth who came to the TASMAC outlet purchased a bottle of liquor by giving Rs, 500 fake currency note.

The cashier in the shop had checked the note, and found out tjat it was fake currency. Following which, the TASMAC employees caught hold of the youth and handed him over to the police at Kuniyamuthur.

The arrested person had been identified as Ramesh (20), son of Mahendran, a resident of Madukkarai Hill Nagar.. The youth had in the meantime, worked as a collector of empty liquor bottles and selling them.

The youth had allegedly picked up a cover from the road side containing Rs 28,500 in Rs 500 denominaiton all in counterfeit currency.

The youth had used the fake currency to buy liquor bottles from a TASMAC shop yesterday and was caught red-handedly.
