The Tamil Nadu government, which had taken up several rounds of protests such as road blockades and petitions to the collector, bowed to the demands of the people of Gudalur and issued an order to capture the elephant.

Since the 21st, more than 50 forest officials have been actively engaged in capturing the PM-2 Makna elephant. Though the forest department has been using various initiatives such as drones, surveillance cameras, etc.
