NTC Mill Management has announced that salary for eight days of employees who participated in Jallikattu protests will be withheld. This announcement by the management has sent shock waves and agitation among the employees who claim this decision as 'unfair'.
Pankaja mill located near Puliakulam in Coimbatore is managed by the National Textiles Corporation. With more than 400 workers employed at the mill, the Management has announced eight days of loss of pay for the employees as they hosted a one-day protest on 20th January, 2017 to support conduct of Jallikattu.

Last month protests were held for the conduct of Jallikattu in the entire state of Tamil Nadu. People from different walks of life took part earnestly in the protests. Employees of various private organisations were also seen participating in the protests. In the intent of showing their support, the workers of the Pankaja Mills conducted a strike on 20th January at their Mill premise.
Employees of the mill today protested against this 'LOP' action from the management. They gathered in front of the entrance to the Mill and raised slogans against the Central Government and the Management of NTC Mills. They also urged that the salary for this month should be paid on-time and also warned that if the management does not revoke their decision of loss of pay, the staff would host multiple protests.
