Puratchikara Ilaignar Munnani pays homage to Segudanthali Murugesan memorial at Somanur near Coimbatore

The Puratchikara Ilaignar Munnani of Tirupur district paid homage at the memorial of Segudanthali Murugesan in Somanur on Thursday. They also participated in it and raised slogans of "We will eradicate the upper castes and unite as working Tamils".


Coimbatore: Murugesan, a native of Segudanthali village in Coimbatore district, was murdered on November 17, 2000, for sitting on a government bus near Somanur in Coimbatore district on par with upper castes.

Every year, on the occasion of the death anniversary of Segudanthali Murugesan, who was killed by the dominant caste, on november 17, the death anniversary of murugesan, a holiday is declared in the area every year.

This year too, liquor shops in the area were closed on his death anniversary today.

Various quarters also paid homage to him at his memorial on Thursday. As part of this, the Puratchikara ilaignar munnani of Coimbatore-Tirupur district paid homage at his memorial.



The Puratchikara Ilaignar Munnani of Tirupur district, who participated in the protest, carried a banner that read, "Let's eliminate the upper castes and unite as a working Tamil" and shouted slogans of "Let's unite as working Tamils".



Thereafter, they laid a wreath at the Memorial of Segudanthali Murugesan and paid homage.
