Acting on a tip-off that people from the Northern states of India were selling ganja near Kaniyur Vettaikkaran Kuttai in Karumathampatti police station limits, a police team led by Inspector Rajadurai nabbed three persons who were in possession of 500 grams of ganja.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore police have formed a special squad to curb the sale of drugs, especially ganja. Based on this, the police received a tip-off that people from Northern states were selling ganja near Kaniyur Vettaikkaran Kuttai in Karumathampatti police station range.
Based on this, a police team led by Inspector Rajadurai conducted an intensive vehicle audit.Spotting three persons standing in a suspicious manner, the Special Cell Police nabbled the three men near a private mill in the same area and interrogated them. During investigation, it was revealed that the three men were ganja traders.
On checking the small packets that the three men - Panamalai Kankar, Digambar Kankar and Deepak Pradhan from Odisha - were carrying, the police found 1/2 kg of ganja. The police arrested the three men and produced them in Court and sent them to jail, after seizing the ganja.
