Those who walk out of the Coimbatore Junction and take the Goodshed Road in our city were hitherto greeted with dull walls on either sides of this road. Thanks to city-based NGO Aram Foundation Charitable Trust and the Salem Division of Southern Railways, these walls are all set to sport a bright peppy look, offering a colourful welcome to those who take the Goodshed Road. About 225 college student volunteers participated in this drive that involves painting the walls on this road. Corporate house Chennis, sponsored the material required for the paintings.

This NGO and Salem Division of Southern Railways are all with its team of volunteers began the work of painting the walls that extend to a distance of 1-kilometre. This is no ordinary wall painting we are told.

The walls will educate on-lookers on subjects like importance of organ donation, rail safety, human rights. Beautiful sceneries and cartoons will also be painted. The outline for the wall paintings was done yesterday and the painting work began yesterday. We are told that the team of student volunteers will work on completing the paintings during the subsequent weekends.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) S Saravanan, visited the location last morning and interacted with the student volunteers. He appreciated and motivated the students. Police personnel installed barricades and provided security for the students who were involved creating the wall paintings.
