An initiative of the Rotary Club of Mettupalayam, students of the department of Computer Science, of Dr SNS Rajalakshmi College of Arts and Science, students of the department of BCA, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore District Home Guards, members of the save Bhavani Trust, officials from the forest department and members of Rotary Club of Mettupalayam participated in this cleanliness drive under the guidance of forest ranger Naseer. A total of 135 volunteers participated in this clean up drive.
This cleanliness drive was carried out between the Mettupalayam check post to the 1st hair pin bend of Kotagiri. As a part of this cleanliness drive this group of volunteers cleared the plastic and glass bottles and other waste that was left un-cleared from this stretch. We are told that 130 bags of waste was collected, segregated and disposed.
A section of volunteers also distributed pamphlets (in Tamil and English) to the tourists and the public, educating them not to litter this area
