Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister presented the financial budget yesterday in parliament. Dr. Manish Banker, Co-Chairman and Medical Director, Nova IVI Fertility stated that overall it is a healthy budget from the healthcare sector point of view.
"Overall, from a healthcare perspective, the budget has met expectations. The government’s objective to widen the availability of essential drugs across the country and reduce the cost of life-saving drugs – measures is expected to bring relief to the sector and the patient communities. On another note, the government’s decision to increase the fund allocation for women and children welfare will empower women, especially in the rural area with opportunities for employment, skill development and above all their health and nutrition is another good aspect of this budget.”
“Also, the announcement of introducing 5,000 new Post Graduate (PG) seats in medicine will bring in reforms in the medical education in the country.
