'Ganamela' the fund-raising live concert event by the Humane Animal Society (HAS) that was supposed to be conducted on January 29th has been cancelled due to the petition filed by a few advocates alleging HAS on various grounds. The live concert was planned to be hosted at the PSG College of Arts and Science with 'Chinna Kuyil', KS Chitra as the chief guest.
Commenting on the petition filed, Mini Vasudevan and Madhu founders of HAS and event organizers of Ganamela have stated that, 'Out of huge dis-appointment we had to post-pone the event. We would like to clarify point blank that we do not have associations with PETA. And, the allegations on HAS stating that the funds raised by us through Ganamela would be spent to run an anti-Jallikattu campaign is totally 'fallacious'. Further, the petitioners have stated that our ticket tariffs are exorbitant, which is again totally untrue. As the price of the tickets vary from Rs. 200/- to Rs. 5000/-. Anyhow, taking into consideration the interests of the stakeholders we have post-pone the event, intimations to the participants on cancellation is in process'.
