Cultural events and workforce recognition adds fervour to the Republic day celebrations by CCMC.

As a part of the 68th Republic celebrations, special cultural events and accolades to officials and staff of CCMC took place at the Corporation Office, this morning.

Special Officer, CCMC, Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, hoisted the National Flag. He also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi statue at the corporation office. 



Following the flag hoist, as a token of appreciation 25 corporation sanitary staff we given Rs. 2000/- each for their tireless service for the past 30 years in the city. 

Officials and assistant engineers, who were part of constructing public toilet complexes, retrieving encroachments, waste segregation, dengue awareness,lake restoration, swachh bharat and swachh survekshan 2017 were awarded appreciation certificates for their exemplary contribution for upliftment of the city. 



Apart from the government staff, representatives and volunteers of NGOs were also given certificates of appreciation for their contribution in various CCMC's project.





School students from Oppanakara street Corporation school, RS Puram Corporation school and SRP Ammaniammal school entertained the gathering through colorful cultural dances. The Students of Aranganathapuram Corporation school delivered a brilliant band performance. Parai, the traditional drums were also played by members of 'Ayudham' group and Aram Foundation. 





Corporation Commissioner, Vijayakarthikeyan while addressing at the event appreciated the cultural performances by the students. He also reminded that people should co-operate to tackle the water crisis in the city by using water very efficiently'. 

Amman K. Arjun, MLA (South), Deputy Corporation Commissioner, P. Gandhimathi,senior officials from various departments, school students,teachers, representatives from NGOs were present during the republic day celebrations.
