The 68th Republic Day was celebrated in a grand and fitting manner at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore on 26-1-2017. The Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Ramasamy was received by Dr.S. Mahimairaja, Dean (Agriculture), TNAU.
The Vice-Chancellor unfurled the National Flag at 8.00 am and delivered the Republic Day address. In his address, the Vice Chancellor stressed about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and Indian Leaders to achieve India the great Republic. He also made his remarks on the successful implementation of Innovative technologies transformed India into a Self sufficient country in-spite of the increasing population.

He pointed out that Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is in the first rank in India and the only Agricultural University in India listed in global ranking. Various awards and recognitions received by the university is because of the hardwork rendered by the scientists and the students community, he indicated.
He stressed about the advances made in the spear of various scientific fields like engineering, medicine and agriculture in India. The contributions of TNAU though is remarkable, India and world expects more from us. He appealed to the young students of TNAU and scientists to innovate new technologies and serve the farmers. And therefore to ensure food safety and livelihood of our people, he appealed to everyone to work with commitment and dedication.
NCC cadets and NSS volunteers participated in the Republic Day celebration. The Vice-Chancellor distributed sweets to the participants. All University Officers, Heads of Department, Capt. Dr.S. Manonmani, Lady NCC Officer and Lt. Dr.K.M. Sellamuthu, NCC Officer, NSS Coordinator, NSS Programme Officers, staff members and children and teachers of New Bharat school enthusiastically participated in the Republic Day celebrations.
