The 68th Republic day celebrations was celebrated at the PRS Grounds, this morning. District Collector, TN Hariharan unfurled the national flag.
Commissioner of Police, A. Amalraj and dignitaries from various other departments were present during the event.
Following the flag hoist, the Collector distributed financial assistance and special scheme benefits amounting to 5.3 crores to 416 beneficiaries.
Police personnel were also awarded for their meritorious performance.
Family members of freedom fighters were also conferred with awards and gifts.
Students of various educational institutions enthralled the audience through their colorful cultural programmes. Kids dressed like Mahatma Gandhi, Bharat Mata and several other renowned freedom fighters garnered the attention of the public.
