NILP exams scheduled for March 19; 20,995 learners are to be tested in foundational literacy

Basic literacy and numeracy are being taught to those who form the illiterate section of the population.


Coimbatore: The Education department has announced that “The New India Literacy Program (NILP)” examinations would beheld on the 19th in Coimbatore.

The 'New India Literacy Program' has been implemented in the Coimbatore district through the Department of School Education and the Directorate of Non-formal and Adult education.

Basic literacy and numeracy are being taught to those who form the illiterate section of the population.

According to this initiative about 20,995 learners have been identified in the Coimbatore district that cannot read and write and the learning centres have been allocated with the help of volunteers.

Under this program, six months of training is provided to the identified learners through trained volunteers. Following the completion of the six months of training exams will be conducted to examine the learning ability.

In this regard, the NILP examination will be conducted for the first time, across Tamil Nadu including Coimbatore District.

The exams will be held on the 19th from 10 am to 5 pm, wherein 20, 995 learners willappear for the examination.
