Traffic diverted in Coimbatore ahead of Vinayagar Chaturthi procession on Sep 2

Due to Ganesha idols procession being taken out in the city on Friday and the idols due to be dissolved in various ponds across Coimbatore, traffic has been diverted.


Coimbatore: Due to Ganesha idols procession being taken out in Coimbatore on September 2 and the idols due to be dissolved in various ponds across the city, traffic has been diverted.

The consecrated idols of Lord Ganesha will depart from Kuniyamuthur Dharmaraja Temple at 1 pm on Friday and proceed to Kuniyamuthur Pond via Palakkad Road, Saradha Mill Road in Podanur at 2 pm and then proceed via Sundarapuram to Pollachi Road and reach Kurichi Pond.

Owing to this, movement of trucks in the city has been banned from 8 am to 8 pm on September 2. Vehicles going from Palakkad to Ukkadam from 11 am onwards via Coimbatore will be diverted through Kulathupalayam - Ashram School Junction - Putuwicki Road; Vehicles going from Ukkadam to Pollachi Road via Sungam -- Ramanathapuram -- Nanjundapuram -- Saradha Mill Road -- Tomato Market; Vehicles going from Ukkadam to Palakkad Road via Perur Bypass - Chethuma Vaikal Checkpost- and via Putuvikky Road - Kulathupalayam.

Vehicles travelling from Pollachi to Palakkad Road will be diverted via 'L and D' Bypass Road, Madhukarai Market Road - Pilliyarpuram Junction - Sukunapuram; Vehicles going from Pollachi to Ukkadam via Karpagam College Junction - Eichenari - Sundarapuram - Athupalam have also been diverted.
