Street vendors in Coimbatore can apply for more bank loans: Corporation Commissioner

Corporation Commissioner M Prathap said that Rs.20,000 will be provided to those who have availed a loan of Rs 10,000/- through the bank loan scheme by Union Government and have made their repayments properly.


Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner M Prathap has announced that loans will be given to registered dealers with documents such as a copy of Aadhaar card and bank passbook.

The scheme of providing Bank Loans to street vendors in Coimbatore Corporation areas is being implemented by the Central Government for the occupational development of street vendors. This scheme is being implemented exclusively for street vendors who do business in the daily market, weekly market, park, railway station, bus stand, temple area and bazaar areas in corporation areas. In the first phase, a loan of Rs.10,000/- was provided by the banks with the condition that they have to repay the monthly instalment of Rs.946/- for a period of 12 months.

As on date, 9550 street vendors have been benefited under this scheme. Eligible candidates can submit a copy of their Aadhaar card along with documents such as bank passbook etc. at the Corporation's Main Office and Corporation Zonal Offices. The special camps organized for this purpose will be held from 16.07.2022 to 31.08.2022 on weekdays from Monday to Saturday.
