City Corporation directs closure of meat shops in Coimbatore on April 14 on account of Mahavir Jayanti

The Coimbatore District Corporation has also warned that strict action will be taken against those who open meat shops on April 14, Thursday.


Coimbatore: Butchers in Coimbatore have been directed to shut down meat stalls on April 14 on account of Mahavir Jayanti.

The District Administration stated that all meat shops should remain closed on Thursday, and CCMC Commissioner, Raja Gopal Sunkara has issued a press release stating that the slaughtering and supply of mutton and chicken was prohibited on April 14

The Ukkadam Goat slaughter house run by the City Corporation, the Singanallur Goat slaughter station, the Podanur and Ganapathi cow slaughter house will also be closed on Thursday. The CCMC Commissioner also warned that those violating this order will be prosecuted by the municipal authorities.
