Schools in Coimbatore closed by Govt. for 4 days due to Tamil New Year, Good Friday

The Tamil Nadu Government has declared that after the long weekend break, schools will resume functioning on April 18.


Coimbatore: A four-day holiday has been declared for schools in Coimbatore as per the announcement of the School Education Department, owingto Tamil New Year's day on April 14 and Good Friday on April 15.

In a statement, the Tamil Nadu School Education Commissioner Nandakumar said, "The 14th and 15th of April are public holidays, since Tamil New Year and Good Friday falls on these respective days. Following this, April 16 which is a Saturday is also a holiday and schools shall resume functioning next Monday on April 18."

Schools in Tamil Nadu reopened offline classes after the Covid-19 lockdown last September and have been functioning on Saturdays as well. At present, a holiday has been declared on Saturday due to the consecutive holidays on Thursday and Friday.
