Schools instructed to ready the list of students for the Kamaraj Award by conducting literary and sports competitions

Since the public examination was not held last year, the schools are instructed to conduct extra-curricular activities and sports competitions to award marks to the students. For a total of 40 marks, it is advised to conduct competitions like speech, essay, poem and sports contests, give marks and keep the list ready.


Coimbatore: In the name of former state Chief Minister Kumaraswami Kamaraj popularly known as Kamarajar, schools are directed to conduct extra-curricular and sports competitions and give marks to students for the award.

Kamaraj's birth anniversary, July 15, is observed annually as Education Development Day, since 2006. To commemorate this day, an award is given to the best schools. In addition, the Kamaraj Award is given to selected students studying in Class X, Class 12 in Tamil medium.

District wise, 15 students studying in class 10 are awarded with a cash reward of Rs 10,000 and another 15 students studying in class 12 will be given Rs. 20,000 cash prize. The students who excel in art and sports competitions and get high marks will be selected for this award. Since the public examination was not held last academic year, the schools are instructed to conduct extra-curricular activities, award marks to the students for the award.
