Gram Sabha meeting to be held in 192 panchayats in Coimbatore

The 36 panchayats where by-polls are to be held will not hold the Gram Sabha meetings.


Coimbatore: A Gram Sabha meeting will be held on October 2 in 192 Panchayats, excluding the 36 Panchayats where by-polls are to be held.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, Gram Sabha meetings have been organized in 192 Panchayats in Coimbatore. Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran stated in a press release that, “The Gram Sabha meetings were not held due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With the number of cases now on the decline, a meeting will be held on October 2, Saturday, at 192 Panchayats. 36 Panchayats where by-polls are being held will not hold the meetings. The scheduled meeting will follow the guidelines imposed by the District administration and the Government.”

The Gram Sabha meetings are held every Republic Day, Independence day, Labour Day and Gandhi Jayanthi.
