Coimbatore district administration invites nomination from social activists for Periyar Award

Award winner to also receive 1 lakh as cash.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran invited nominations from social activists who fight for social justice to be eligible for the ‘Periyar Award for Social Justice.’

In a press release, the Collector stated that "The Periyar Social Justice Award is given to honor the efforts of various social activists. The recipient shall receive a cash prize of 1 lakh, a golden shield and a merit certificate. The award winner is selected by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Nominations are welcome for the award for the year 2021. Those who are qualified as working for social justice and improving the living standards of public and have achieved in these areas can apply."

Applicants should forward the following details; Profile, full address, phone number and the social activities they have participated in. The applications have to be sent to the District Collector on or before September 31.
