Heavy rains forecast for Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts on Aug 27, 28

Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts are expected to receive heavy rains on August 27 and 28, as per the Regional Meteorological Center's weather forecast.


Coimbatore: The Regional Meteorological Center, Chennai issued a press release forecasting thundershowers in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Theni and Dindigul districts for the next five days, especially on August 27 and 28.

Heavy rains have also been predicted in one or two places in Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Ranipettai districts on Wednesday and moderate rain in some places in Chennai. Heavy rain with thunder and lightning is expected at one or two places in Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi and Salem districts on Thursday.

Strong winds of upto 50 kmph are expected in the southwestern and central western parts of the Arabian Sea, and hence fishermen in the area have been advised not to venture into the sea.
